Food handler class offered at Sagebrush

The New Mexico Restaurant Association and the Sagebrush Inn will host a food handler class Monday (April 15) from 11:30 to 2:30 pm. People who successfully complete the class will be eligible for a food handler card, required under state regulations for cooks, bussers, servers, bartenders and anyone who handles food.

The cost of the class is $37 per person. Limited seating is available. You must register in advance at web.nmrestaurants.org/events (click on ServSafe event April 15) or by calling (505) 343-9848.

Nusenda presents free financial tips

April is National Financial Literacy Month, and Nusenda Credit Union is offering no-cost workshops, webinars, social media financial tips and money management tools focusing on financial knowledge. The credit union also is promoting open enrollment for the May 4 Lemonade Day geared toward youth entrepreneurship.

Nusenda hosts the monthly, no-cost, two-part webinars yearround. April’s topic is Understanding Credit held Thursday, (April 18) from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sign up at nusenda.org/workshops.

Nusenda Credit Union also shares daily financial wellness tips on its Facebook (@NusendaCU) and Twitter (@NusendaCU) pages on topics such as savings, credit, education, and personal finances.

New spa opens in Taos

The Nurture Nest, a self-care sanctuary, is ready to help you out of the winter doldrums at an Open House on Saturday, (April 13), from 3 to 6 p.m.

Salon owner Coral Ann Schmid invites everyone to stop by and say hello, have a cupcake, peruse the extensive menu of services and book your appointment. Admission is free.

Schmid is a noted aesthetician and stylist, reiki master and yoga instructor. “There is nothing that brings me greater joy than helping people to see their most authentic beauty within,” she said.

Indulgences include cuts, color and styling; full waxing services; brightening and nourishing facials; hand and foot treatments; and energy work.

The Nurture Nest, located at 1204 Paseo del Pueblo Norte Unit B in El Prado, is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
