BHOPAL: Lieutenant General Yogendra Dimri, AVSM, VSM took over the reins of the Sudarshan Chakra Corps from Lieutenant General Ravendra Pal Singh AVSM, VSM on Wednesday as the 24
General Officer Commanding.
Lieutenant General Yogendra Dimri, AVSM, VSM was commissioned in the Corps of Engineers in December 1983. He is an alumnus of National Defense Academy, Khadakwasla and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, where he was awarded the President’s Gold Medal, having passed out first in the Order of Merit.
In a career spanning over 35 years, he was tenanted active combat roles at respective stages of command in the Army. The General has a distinct service profile, having attended various prestigious courses including the Defense Services Staff Course at Wellington, Defense Services Command and Staff Course at Dhaka, Bangladesh, Higher Command Course at Mhow and National Defense Course at Delhi. He brings with him the vast experience of varied military theatres ranging from Deserts, Line of Control and Counter Insurgency and Counter Terrorism operations.
The General has tenanted varied important Command, Staff and Instructional appointments to include Brigadier General Staff Operations of a Corps and Deputy Director General, Military Operations at Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defense. He has also served as Military Observer in United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC), and as Directing Staff at Defense Services Staff College, Wellington.
For his exemplary dedication, the General Officer has been twice awarded the GOC-in-C Commendation Card, the CISC to COSC Commendation Card, Vishisht Seva Medal and Ati Vishisht Seva Medal.
On the eve of taking over the prestigious Sudarshan Chakra Corps, the Corps Commander extended his warm greetings to all ranks, Veer Naris and Veterans as well as their family members.
