Weekends are our chance to do the things we love doing (and the chores we put off all week), and if shopping is high up on your list of fun activities, you’re in for a treat. Partly because today is Mother’s Day—call/visit/honor your mothers—there are actually a lot of great sales happening right now. While many are targeted toward the stereotypical mother archetype (flowers and PJs and cleaning supplies, mainly) there are also loads of ways to save for anyone and everyone.
More: The 16 best Mother’s Day deals and sales happening this weekend
My mom lives states away so after a long chat with her this morning, I distracted myself from missing her by searching for the very best sales and deals you can find online. Retail therapy, am I right? Whenever we vet deals, we look at a number of different factors to determine whether it’s worth your time. From our own test results and personal experience to price histories and customer reviews, we make sure the sales we share are always worth your time.
1. The best hair dryer at a new, crazy-low price
Stop everything. The Harry Josh hair dryer is only $169 right now from Dermstore. In the 2 years I’ve been writing about deals and sales, I have never ever seen this award-winning hair dryer on sale for this price. Ever. It got close once when it reached $175 last December, but if you missed that sale, don’t skip this one.
When our reviewer pitted the Harry Josh against all the other top hair dryers on the market, she loved that it was compact and comfortable to hold during her entire blowout (and she has a lot of hair). This praise came despite the Harry Josh being the heaviest model she tested at 1.2 pounds. It also delivered the fastest drying time, taking just 22 minutes to take her from wet to styled, with others taking closer to half an hour.

2. Get 20% off everything at Anthropologie this weekend
In honor of mothers everywhere, Anthropologie is running a massive sitewide sale (check out our 35 faves) for Mother’s Day. Yes, you read that right. Everything is 20% off through Sunday online and in stores. So you can shop on your phone or head to the store and take Mom (and your besties) on a shopping spree. The sale section is where I’d head, personally, as those items are already discounted and Anthro is taking an extra 25% off those prices. But you can also get new items like the Gal Meets Glam collection, Matisse slides, and home decor like the coveted Capri Blue candles and Joanna Gaines home collection. What are you waiting for?!

3. The most popular DNA test kit at its lowest price of the year
If you’ve ever wondered if your parents’ stories about your ancestors are actually accurate, a DNA kit is a great way to start exploring your heritage. And right now you can get AncestryDNA for $40 off, which is its lowest price of the year. We love this DNA test kit because it has more than 10 million users, so AncestryDNA can pinpoint your heritage to more than 350 regions and you have a higher chance of being connected to a long-lost relative than you might with other DNA testing kits. Plus, Ancestry continues to update your results as its database grows so your information gets more accurate over time.

4. Save 15%: The smartest way to track barbecue temperatures
Grill season is here and if you really want to wow your barbecue guests, then you’re going to want to make sure your meat is cooked perfectly. Thermoworks makes some really top-notch meat thermometers, and right now you can save 15% on their fancy grill gadget called the Smoke. It precisely tracks temperatures with two channels—one for meat and one for the pit, and it’s great for oven-roasting, deep-frying, and even sous vide cooking. In fact, we’ve even been using the Smoke to test out charcoal on our favorite charcoal grill and our testers had nothing but praise.
You can also connect the Smoke to a device called a Gateway that allows you to monitor your grill and your food from an app on your phone over WiFi. The Gateway is also on sale for 15% off ($75.65, down from $89) if you want the convenience of not having to hover over your grill. Just know you don’t need the Gateway at all to enjoy the Smoke. It’s an add-on!

5. Lowest price ever: The new Kindle Paperwhite
If you’re trying to read more often, one thing that might be holding up your progress is the mild inconvenience of carrying big, heavy books around with you. While it’s not the biggest burden by any means, it can be just enough to dissuade you from your mind-expanding goals. With summer coming up fast, Id’ recommend picking up a Kindle, and right now the best one Amazon offers is at the lowest price we’ve ever seen.
Amazon recently redesigned the Paperwhite, which was already our favorite model. Now it’s even lighter and completely waterproof. And did I mention it’s got twice the storage capacity? One thing I embarrassingly still haven’t gotten around to trying is the fact that you can borrow e-books from your local library and read them on your Kindle, which means you don’t need to shell out more money after you buy this e-reader to start enjoying it. Plus, if you have Prime, you can take advantage of some perks that get you free books too.

Note that they won’t ship these Kindles until May 13 (this Monday), so if you can’t wait, the all-new baseline Kindle (which now has a backlight!) is also on sale for $69.99, a $20 discount and the first time it’s ever gone on sale.
6. Save 50-70% on outdoor, bed, and bath at Wayfair
Wayfair is always discounting something, and right now the savings are all about bed and bath, as well as your outdoor space. So whether you’ve been dying to give your bedroom a facelift or you’re getting your backyard ready for barbecue season, it’s time to browse the furniture retailer for your dream looks. You can find patio furniture, outdoor rugs, heaters and grills for up to 50% off, or turn your sights inside and get up to 70% on bed and bath decor and furniture.
One thing I love about Wayfair, aside from the fact you never have to (and shouldn’t) pay full price, is their customer service. You’ve probably heard the horror stories of people getting things from Wayfair that show up damaged, but you’ve probably also heard that they take these issues to heart and typically offers full replacements if anything goes wrong with your order. It’s a nice reassurance that you’ll get your money’s worth.
Shop Wayfair for great deals on outdoor, bed, and bath
7. A rechargeable flashlight at the best price we’ve ever seen
A good flashlight is essential for everything from walking the dogs at night to finding lost items under the couch to dealing with a power outage. This one from Anker is incredible because not only is it super bright, but it’s rechargeable (via microUSB), meaning you won’t have to constantly search for those odd-sized batteries flashlights typically require and you typically never have extras of.
The Bolder LC90 is also the upgraded version of our favorite affordable flashlight, the LC40 ($19.99 on Amazon). The LC90 is zoomable and has 900 lumens, which is more than double the brightness of the LC40, and right now you can get it for $7.50 off and just a few cents more than its counterpart with the code “ANKERLC90.”
